If you started reading Genesis today, let me show you just how fascinating the bible is in the very first sentence of Genesis 1.
1: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”
The very first word of the bible is “in”. Why is that word so significant? Because if the word would have been “at” the beginning it would have given the creation narrative a definitive start time where using the word “in” the beginning let’s all the discovery of dinosaurs and cave men and fossils that are several million years old find a place in the creation story. The word “in” allows for a great flexibility as to time frame of creation. After reading about the “Big Bang Theory” which was an event that must have occurred at a point in time, it seems to me that when that event took place it was the moment that time began. Prior to the Big Bang it was God in eternity without time.
What I am saying is, the bible is deep. It makes me think. It is God speaking to me about all things in my life and in the universe. I find it very fascinating! My challenge to you is, get a good, easy to read bible, and start making it a habit of reading it every day. I promise you, if you ask the Holy Spirit to help you understand what you are reading, a door to an amazing Kingdom will begin to open to you. The wisdom that will begin to sprout and grow within your heart will change the way you see the world. It will change the way you think about religion. It will change the way you relate to others. It will allow you access to the King of the Universe like you have never known before. Reading the bible everyday is not being a “Holy Roller”, it is a life improvement tool. Do you want a better 2018? Read the bible everyday!
This coming Sunday PCF will be leading worship and there will be Communion. Check the blog if weather conditions start to et bad by Sunday. I pray you are all having a great day one in 2018.
