I think one of the most difficult things for Christians to fully grasp, and I include myself in this difficulty, is the fact that we are saved by believing that Jesus is who He said He is and He has completed everything you and I need to become part of God’s perfect eternal kingdom. It is our belief in Jesus, not our behaviors that save us! I once thought that after being saved I had to stop sinning, that if I were truly saved, I would no longer have any sin in my life. After thousands and thousands of attempts to live sin free and failing miserably, here is what I found to be true. Satan stepped right into my many failures and introduced the following lie. “Maybe the sins I have aren’t really that bad, plus I have noticed a lot of others who are sinning much worse than me!” So even though I know I’m not perfect, at least I’m not like those people over there who are really sinning. This is the holier than thou thinking that ruins our testimony and ruins the Good News of the Gospel! I have news for you, you are not sinless and you will not be sinless as long as you live in that temporary body. Get over your yourself. You are saved because when you believe in Jesus, God sees you as perfect even though you are not because His son has covered all your sin with His perfect blood. Now that is GOOD NEWS and praise the Lord, because if we had to become perfect in our own strength to get into Paradise, there would be no one there except Jesus. Once you grasp that truth, God can begin working with you to make you into a vessel that can be a blessing as He sees fit. He will change you. You will become a different and better person because you will begin reflecting the love of Jesus that you have received back into this broken world. You will not however, become a perfect person without sin and anyone who tells you different is kidding themselves. Learn how to walk in the GRACE of SALVATION and begin experiencing love and freedom like never before! Amen! I am looking forward to seeing you and your mom’s on Sunday!
