Before I get into this message I have some very important prayer requests. Stan Rutkowski was just taken to the emergency room from Rosewood. I spoke with Darlene and she will keep us posted. Prayers for Stan.
Faye Heuchert is having surgery this morning to relieve nerve pressure in her arm. It is a surgery similar to what I had on my neck several years ago. She is at Barnes hospital. Healing prayers.
This Sunday PCF will be leading worship and our special guests will be Beverly Farm. I hope you can join us for this special Sunday at 8:45am 800 North Main Street Edwardsville.
The PCF board met last night and we added two new members to our board, Lori Rodgers and Steve Porter. They will begin their service at the next meeting in March. Our new board president will be Gary Watson. As many of you know Cathy and Gary Watson have faithfully served this church since it’s very beginning and we are blessed to have them in our church family. I want to thank Kory Kuba for being the church president for the past three years. Kory has done an excellent job of serving the church as president. That position requires organization, paperwork, administrative duties, and many other things to help our church remain in the guidelines as set by our original constitution written by our first board and board president Rusty Burian. Thank you Kory!
You are a child of God! Many of you reading this already know this however there are many people all around us that don’t understand that fact. I cannot imagine trying to go through this life without God and the leading of His Holy Spirit.
The Great Commission. “Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age’” Matthew 28:18-20. This was the last message given to his disciples before he ascended into heaven. This is a call to action for all believers. We are to share what we have been given to those who have not yet met the living, powerful God. That can only happen if you are filled with the Holy Spirit.
How do I get filled with the Holy Spirit? I don’t have a formula but I can tell you this. You must first accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. That means you come to a point in life where you know that you want and need something more than what the world has to offer. The day you cry out to Jesus to save you from your hurting life, no matter what the problem, He will come to you and make you clean. It is a promise. He will then give you his spirit, the Holy Spirit, to guide you and to lead you into all truth.
John 16:12-14 12 “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. 14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.
What powerful words. Jesus, through the power of the Holy Spirit, has given mankind a key to the Kingdom of God’s truth, the Holy Spirit. The power of the Holy Spirit is life changing but you must feed the Spirit once it has been given to you. You feed the spirit by filtering what you allow into your eyes, ears and mind. The Spirit’s power is released into those who seek God’s Kingdom with all their heart and all their mind. That is why I continue to remind people to start reading your bibles everyday. The words in the bible, though you may not understand some of the things you are reading, are spiritual food. These words will be used by the power of the Holy Spirit to ignite a fire within you for the things of God. It is so easy to get distracted form the things of God and there is a reason.
1 Peter 5:6-106 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, 7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.8 Be sober, be vigilant; because[ your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 9 Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. 10 But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.
Much more to come. Love, pastor kent
