I am sending this from Michigan City Indiana. Bonni and crew are filming this morning with the Shriners and I had a moment and felt the need to reach out to the PCF family. I will be on the road later today heading home so I can be there for the Floyd Fisher Memorial and funeral tomorrow at 2:00. Blessings and God’s peace to the family.
This morning I have a quick devotional thought for you. I was reading through my many notebooks I keep and I came across this gem. Could you answer why you are a Christian? Why do you choose Christianity. The answers would obviously be many and diverse. Here are some thoughts.
This life is relational. Relationships are helping to write your story. The universe is relational. All the planets and solar systems are moving at great speeds and are directed by energy such as Gravity. The Bible says God is relational and we are created in His image. That is what the Christian narrative declares. Some believe this is true, some do not. Those who do not are living by a different narrative or story. What story are you part of? I believe God leads me to the the things I talk about with you. That is the story or narrative that I believe and live by. There are many people today who are living life without Peace, without Joy, without Love, and it’s because they are identifying with a story that does not allow them to experience these things.
One of the first things that happens in the God story is, He speaks. The bible is a very big and sometimes complex story. But that story answers so many of life’s tough questions.
Questions such as:
- where did I come from,
- why am I here,
- what is my purpose,
- and what happens when I die.
These are universal questions man has sought answers to for a long time. The bible has an answer for all of them. To me the answers that the bible gives makes more sense than any other answers I have heard in my 64 year lifetime.
So here is what I want you to think about:
- In the bible God speaks!
- Why does anyone speak? To be understood.
- Why does anyone want to be understood? Because they want to be known.
- Why does anyone want to be known? Because they want to be loved.
We have a God that speaks, wants to communicate with you, has character, emotion, and want’s to be in a loving relationship with His creation; you and I!
Have a blessed Sunday! Love, Kent
