Proverbs 14:12 “There is a way that appears to be right,
but in the end it leads to death.”
A Christian response to a political situation!
I have watched the news briefly today and had to retreat to prayer. What we are witnessing today is not new. It is an example of people who are very passionate about their beliefs and have decided to take action because of their passion and beliefs. The problem is, when people act without consulting God through scripture and prayer, trouble is born and I am talking about people on both sides of the fence! We are ALL broken and a very confused people when it comes to trusting God and His word in ALL Circumstances.
The biggest problems in my life have been when I did things my way instead of trusting God and waiting on Him and His ways. We are guilty of not trusting and not waiting, all of us. We know what we want and we know that what we want it is the right answer. The problem is, unless it has come from the bible or from revelation from God which will always be backed and confirmed by the bible, we are entering dangerous territory.
We all have our opinions on what we believe to be right and fair but unless we are following the guidance given in scripture then we can find ourselves like the person in Proverbs 14:12. “There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death!” The teaching this past week was about turmoil and anger, Proverbs 15:1 “A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” Read the story of David, Nabal, and Abigail in 2nd Samuel 25.
Remember this: If you choose to follow Jesus, He is your highest authority. What He teaches and what He represents takes precedence over all other allegiances. It’s not wrong to support a cause as long as it is within the guidelines of what Jesus taught. It is not wrong to protest as long as it has been God approved according to scripture. It’s not wrong to debate as long as it is done without malice and done with love. I know this is not how the world acts but it is the way of God and when you begin applying the ways of God to your life, you will begin witnessing amazing miracles.
If you believe in Jesus, then He is the one you should be turning to before reacting to anything you see on the news. It is our Christian duty to lay down our worldly allegiances, alliances and beliefs and surrender to the ways of God! Then you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free! Amen!
