This Sunday: God found a way!
Dear PCF family and friends, this Sunday will be the last gathering for this year. I will be doing both a Christmas Eve and a Christmas Morning Service as a Facebook live broadcast. Christmas eve service will be at 11:00pm and Christmas morning at our usual 9:00am time slot. This allows everyone to be with their family and friends while still coming together hear God’s word.
This past week I watched a video of an older gentleman give an award acceptance speech. Like most acceptance speeches he wanted to impart some wisdom to those watching. On the service one of the things he said seemed very profound. He said, “Make sure to surround yourself with people who light up when they see you!” Seems like wise advice on the surface however, after thinking about it I realized it really wasn’t biblical. Did Jesus surround himself with people who lit up when they saw him? I’m sure some did but many people did not. People who are hurting, ill, depressed, angry, frustrated, broken etc. may have a real hard time lighting up no matter who they see. I think a much better approach is for you and I to become the person who lights up no matter who we meet! Make every greeting with those you meet a very special one, be the light and the love of Jesus to the world and to others. That is what we are called to do. Allow Jesus’ light to shine through you so people will feel as if they are the only person who matters when you meet them. For in fact at that moment, they are the only person who matters. I think if we begin practicing being the ones who light up when we meet people and make them feel loved and special, soon we too will begin experiencing more and more people lighting up when they meet us. Merry Christmas Everyone! I love my congregation. You are all the best! love, pastor kent
Announcements: If you have gifts for Beverly Farm, please bring them this Sunday so Lori and Krista can get them to Beverly Farm in time for Christmas. If something comes up where you just cannot get your gift by this Sunday then Sally said you can call her at 618-978-3490 and she will arrange a time to get the gift from you. Thank you Sally!
Another word from Sally is that we have found a place to operate our TWIGS program. We are moving it to St. Lukes Methodist church in Maryville Illinois. I also want to thank John Grant for helping us get that location. Sally said we will begin delivering food to eligible students in district 7 in January.
