I read an interesting comment about the actual story found in Exodus. “It took only 40 hours to get the Israelites out of Egypt, but it took 40 years to get Egypt out of the Israelites!”

Dear PCF family, in a follow up to yesterday’s sermon on “Getting Out of Egypt” I want to elaborate on the many things that could represent Egypt to any of us. Some things that hold us in bondage may look completely innocent. The way I would define Egyptian Bondage is “anything” that we put above God, anything that keeps us from prayer, bible reading, Sunday worship, or even having a grateful heart are all things that keeps us in Egypt.

God sent Moses to set God’s chosen people free, to lead them away from their bondage to the promised land flowing with milk and honey. Our Moses is Jesus who wants to lead us to the promised land. Stop wasting your time on prodigal temptations Stop wasting your time on anything that’s keeping you from allowing Jesus to lead you into your promised land.

A note from from Cathy Watson:

When Kent asked me to say something about our dinner crew Sunday (and his message must have spoken to me before he gave it, because I would normally have said no-but  stepped outside my comfort zone).  After the service, I was asked for more information about our PCF Dinner Crew from several of you.

So here is our story:  a few years back, Kent expressed a desire to have 3 or 4 PCF dinners each year and somehow this amazing team came together now known as The Dinner Crew. We started off with 9—Bill & Judy Daupenspeck, Kip & Cindy Goff, Ken Winchester, Sally McLauchlan, Nelleke Weese, Gary & Cathy Watson. We developed such a wonderful bond and looked upon our duties as a pleasure and a time to enjoy being together. Since that beginning, we have added Pattie Franklin, Dave & Kathy Schaake, Cathy Crowder, with other offers to help at any time.

Then the opportunity to serve for memorial luncheons came up and our group again said, “why not”. The memorial family supplies the food and PCF supplies the following:

  • Set up/serve/cleanup
  • Tea/lemonade/water/coffee
  • Paper products (tablecloths/napkins/plates)
  • Cutlery
  • Cups
  • Ice

At one of our luncheons, only 3 of our original dinner crew was available so those 3 along with many PCF family volunteers pitched in and we had a successful event. What a blessing to put a need out a need and have wonderful people step up to help. Even after hours of setting up, serving, clean up, we all leave each other with smiles on our faces and blessed to be a part of such a wonderful church.

If you would be interested in being on this crew or be willing to volunteer in the nursery, or other please let us know. We are a 100% volunteer church no one at PCF receives a salary. For the dinner crew you can contact Cathy Watson at 409-656-6448. For helping Robin in Sunday school and the nursery contact Robin Hlava at 502-779-0129. For any other questions or ideas for service call kent at 618-334-3575.

A special prayer request from Cathy Crowder:  My brother in law, John Guthrie was transported to Barnes Neuro ICU yesterday and is being monitored for multiple brain bleeds. He is stable and alert and they are administering additional tests to determine the cause and establish a treatment plan.  Also, my stepmother, Betty Tucker   passed away this past Wednesday and my half brother who has been caring for her at her home in Missouri is needing lots of support and prayer.  As always, I’m deeply grateful for my PCF family.
