The first commandment God wrote on a stone tablet for man to follow is probably the commandment that we have all broken the most. “You Shall Have No Other God’s Before Me!” and of course the second commandment reinforces the first, “You Shall Make No Idols!”
Or how about this one, “Remember the sabbath and keep it Holy!”
Original Sin. It has each and everyone of us in its grips. Original sin is what leads all of us to sin and sin is anything that we do that is not God’s will for us. All sin is also selfish. Any sin named is because we are selfish, we want to please ourselves more than we want to please God. We fail at keeping the law. The bible lists all the things that man does that goes against God’s will. Each and everyone of them is punishable by death. Why? Because God demands perfection, He will not allow anyone into His kingdom that is infected with sin! That’s pretty direct and pretty simple. You sin, you cannot enter God’s Kingdom. You are not going to be able to participate in His blessings of Peace, His Wisdom, His Favor……The law has been set in stone, literally, and since God is perfectly just, all sins will be punished by death…..UNLESS you repent and turn from your sins and accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and ask Him to be the Lord of your life. Jesus said ANYONE, regardless of current and past sins, anyone can come to me and believe in me and my teachings and be saved from the penalty of the second death which is to be separated from God and His Kingdom. How great is that? How wonderful is our God who has made a way for anyone to be saved and enjoy a life full of God’s peace, wisdom, guidance, and love even though we fall very short. Much more to talk about here! I’ll save it for a Sunday!
