Note from Pastor Kent: Some of you have probably wondered what happened to me since I usually get out for visits and calls. Since last Sunday I have been home taking care of a bad case of bronchitis. Today I am finally starting to feel better. It has been a battle. So I just want you to know I haven’t been hiding, just trying to get better!
Matthew 9:10-13 Now it happened, as Jesus sat at the table in the house, that behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat down with Him and His disciples. And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to His disciples, “Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” When Jesus heard that, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice.’ For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”
Announcements:
Easter lilies will decorate the sanctuary on April 1. If you would like to place one or more in honor of, or in memory of a loved one, please use the sign-up sheet found in the Hospitality Room. Price is $9.50 for each lily ordered. Checks may be made payable to Immanuel UMC. Please remember to take your lily home following the 10:45 am worship on Easter Sunday.
On Sunday, March 18, Darla McFadden will be performing and leading in worship at both our 8:45 am and 10:45 am worship services. As a teenager, McFadden began performing Christian music at neighboring churches. She did not intend for it to be a career. She has said she simply hoped to make church attendance a good time for those people who came to see her. “Those early audiences really nurtured what I was doing,” said McFadden. “I was so young when I was starting, and my goal was just to make people glad that they were at church.”
Now, McFadden’s mission, skills and ac- companying ministry have expanded. In her 27 years of ministry, the vocalist has pursued her calling all over the United States. Her projects are packed with life- changing lyrics and have put her on the national charts.
Glen-Ed Food Pantry . This will be the last Sunday for our Sudsy Sundays campaign for the food pantry. In March, we will begin Don’t Forget Your Toothbrush! We are asking for donations of men’s toiletries: men’s deodorant, shaving cream, razors, toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc. The need for hand soap, detergent and dishwashing soap never lessens and are always welcome, along with anything else you might want to donate. Everything is so very much appreciated.
See you soon. Love, pastor kent
