Our God is a covenant God. A covenant is a binding contract. Biblical covenants are where God has entered into an agreement with mankind that involves both promises and responsibilities for each party. The obligation is only good as the parties involved. Lucky for us, God can be trusted with His promises. God made a covenant with Abraham, with Noah, with Moses, David, and with you and me with the New Covenant through Jesus.

God has upheld His end of all the covenants. We on the other hand have fallen short.  That is why He sent Jesus to form a new covenant:

“Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah— not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them, says the LORD. But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the LORD. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.” – Jeremiah 31:31-34

I will remember their sin no more!  I don’t know about you but I am sure grateful for that covenant.

This Sunday, July 21st we will once again gather at Glik Park at 9:00am to offer gratitude for our God and His ability to love us even with all our shortcomings.

Pastor notes: This summer has been extremely busy for me. But in this busyness I have continued to read and study. Here is what I know, God’s plan for humanity is in the making each and every day whether we recognize it or not. Your life may seem very routine and nothing out of the ordinary is happening, but rest assured, God is moving and guiding and working his plan. The question is, are you allowing Him to work through you? Are you participating in His grand plan of redeeming the world? If you want to participant in His plan start right where you are. No matter the circumstance. Maybe you are ill, maybe you are sad, maybe you are fearful, maybe you are bored, maybe you are in deep financial trouble, God’s message is the same for all of us. “Fear Not!”

Isaiah 41:10 . “so do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

No matter what circumstance you find yourself, go to God, repent, ask for forgiveness, and ask God to come to you and show you a new path. Ask him for new desires, desires that would be pleasing to Him. Ask Him for a new heart, a heart that is open to love and compassion. Ask Him for new eyes, eyes that can see the world as Jesus sees the world and spiritual eyes that can see the need. If we step into God’s plan right where we are even with all our issues and problems, we are stepping into a new life. A life of hope, of joy, and of peace.

See you Sunday! Love, pastor kent
