Eddie Jaku, “I am not going to hate anyone!”
Good evening PCF family and friends. Bonni and I will be back home tomorrow evening. First I want to add someone to our prayer list. I know most of you have been watching the news about the the two people who were shot at the East Alton Skating rink a couple of night ago. Maria Beatty, one of the women who was shot is one of Bonni’s employees mother-in-law. She has a serious injury and is at Barnes Hospital. Our employee Kaci was with her when the shooting took place. Please add Maria to your prayer list. Maria is going to recover but it will be a long journey. Lord we lift Maria and the other person to your healing love.
The world has pretty much gone crazy if you haven’t noticed, so what do we do as a church and as a Christian? First, what people do, what governments do, what leaders do, should never change what we as Christians do. We have a constitution that we are called to follow, it’s called the bible. We as citizens of the United states are to follow the laws and the constitution that our government has put into place. But we are never to break our allegiance with our Lord Jesus and His teachings. He must have the final authority in all our decisions and actions. We may or may not agree with the government, we may or may not like some of our leaders, but we are called to be good law abiding citizens and to be a light in a very dark world. Remember that! Getting all frustrated and angry won’t help solve anything. When you are feeling depressed or losing hope about things, turn off the News and open your bible or listen to one of your favorite preachers, or listen to some uplifting Gospel music.
I watched a 99 year old Holocaust survivor give a talk this week and there were some very important lessons He gave to those who listened. This man lost everything during the Holocaust. His mother and father, sisters, his pet, his home, many of his relatives and yet somehow he survived. When the war was over he had NOTHING! No home, no family, no money, nothing. He said what he saw during his time at Auschwitz was so horrible, and since he was allowed to somehow survive, that he had to help make the world a better place. He decided he was not going to hate anyone, since he saw all the death and pain that hate caused. He decided he would be kind to everyone and always have a smile and a kind word for everyone he met. He decided to make everyday a happy day, a blessed day, and an opportunity to be a friend to someone. He changed his life through decisions. You and I and everyone else in the world make decisions everyday. I don’t know about you but I like this man’s philosophy. You can watch his talk here.
Too many people make decisions that are not going to make the world a better place. I know the people of PCF are the type of people who want to plant flowers, and smiles, and joy into the world. Make a promise like Eddie, and make a decision that you too are not going to hate anyone: Jesus said: Forgive them Father, as nails were being pounded through his hands and feet.
