The greatest peace I experience is when I spend time with God and His teachings found in the bible but it has not always been that way. Much of my life has been a struggle when it came to walking with God daily. Many years ago I wrote a song called One Road to Paradise. That song was about my struggles with walking closely with God.
Here are the some of the lyrics to that song. “Could you please help me I’ve got this heavy load. So I asked the scarecrow which way should I go and he said, It doesn’t matter unless you have a plan cause you see there’s only one road that leads to the promised land. Cause there are too many roads, too many roads to walk on, Yes too many roads, There before your eyes Yes there are too many roads to capture your attention but there’s just one road, that leads to paradise. Could you please Help me cause I don’t have a clue, Where did I come from and where am I heading to, I’ve got so much confusion could you please point the way, Everybody’s talkin at me but I don’t know what they’re saying. There are too many roads, Too many roads to walk on, too many roads, there before my eyes, Just too many roads to capture your attention but there’s just one road, to take you to paradise.
When you make the decision to accept Jesus into your life and begin your walk with God, it is a journey not an event! Spiritual maturity happens over time with much trial and effort.
Our board president Gary Watson gets up every day and jogs 3 miles. Everyday! He is in very good shape but that didn’t happen by accident. It takes determination and discipline to do anything that is worth while. You have to decide if getting to know God intimately is worth your time and effort because it isn’t going to happen automatically. The reward comes through much trial and effort and there is an adversary that will continuously try to “capture your attention” and lead you away from the things of God!
Hebrews 11:16 “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
There is a peace which which surpasses all understanding and that will guard you hearts and mind in Jesus. Make the decision today to begin seeking God a top priority in your life so that you too will know the peace that only God can give. Have a great Sunday!
See you next Sunday! Love, pastor kent
