This coming Sunday is shaping up to be a real celebration. If you like warm and fuzzy and smiles and love, this will be a Sunday you won’t want to miss. Some of the Beverly Farm residents and staff will be joining us in our worship. They are bringing gifts for the entire congregation to thank us for so generously giving at Christmas and for the donation we made this past fall which allowed them to purchase a much needed dental chair. I know what gifts they are bringing and I think you are going to be very blessed! The Beverly Farm board president Jeff Rosignol and his wife Polly are coming all the way from northern Indiana and will also be in attendance. They are looking forward to meeting the IUMC and PCF family. Service is at 8:45am located at 800 North Main Street Edwardsville.
The PCF singers and band will play a couple of the Beverly Farm Residents favorite songs. My guess is there will be some additional members in our choir when these songs are played! I will be talking about the verse below. Please join me in praying that this service will be a blessing for everyone who attends.
Matthew 18:2-4 “Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, 3 and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” It’s going to be a fun, happy, Spirit filled service.
Prayer updates:
Faye Heuchert had her surgery yesterday at Barnes and Brad said that she is doing fine. Obviously sore, but she may be released to come home today. Continued prayers for complete healing.
Stan Rutkowski is still in the ICU at Bellville Memorial hospital. He is having heart issues and is in a lot of pain. Prayers of God’s peace and mercy.
Announcements:
ASH WEDNESDAY . Our Ash Wednesday service will be held this evening, February 14, beginning at 6:30 pm. This service will include Holy Communion plus the imposition of ashes. Ash Wednesday is a somber but profound time of worship whereby we enter into the Lenten season trusting in the God who created us from dust and claims us as precious sons and daughters.
NO YOGA ON WEDNESDAY . Our Wednesday evening Yoga class will not be held this week, so that the participants will have time for their special loved ones on Valentine’s Day following the Ash Wednesday worship service.
FROM THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES . The Board will make a presentation about our upcoming tuck pointing project on Sunday, February 25 at both services. Guest Brandon Lange from Western Specialty Contractors will be available during both services and during the Hospitality Time to answer any questions you might have about this project. The Trustees are in the process of coordinating all locks in the church building to be set to the same key. If you are in need of a key, please contact Sharon Koenig, 618-633-2659.
AFRICAN VISION OF HOPE . We are collecting feminine hygiene items to send to the young women of Africa. Please place your items in the basket in the narthex labeled “African Vision of Hope.” Thank you for your loving contribution toward this effort.
SUDSY SUNDAYS CONTINUE . Please consider picking up some dishwashing soap, hand soap or detergent to donate to the Glen-Ed Food Pantry. These are items that they cannot keep in stock because the demand is so great. Donations can be placed in the red and green Food Pantry boxes in the narthex. Thank you for any and all donations, as they are all appreciated.
See you Sunday. Love, pastor kent
