Message from Tyler: Hey! I wanted to invite you to something I’m doing this Friday, September 4th. I’m putting on an outreach event called Life Fest through Unashamed Ministries at SIUE. It’s going to be a night of worship, a message, prayer, and just an opportunity to come together and hear about Jesus. I’ll be leading the event, emceeing, and preaching, so it would really mean a lot to me if you could come out! I’d love to see you there and have you be a part of it. Thank you Tyler.
Read the Bible primarily as a means to get to know the Lord, not as a means to develop a doctrine. There was a time when I would have a belief and then try to find verses that would back my belief. That is not a good way to go about learning the Bible and what God really wants us to know.. As I studied the Bible over the years, I have come up with several beliefs and doctrines that I found not to be accurate because there was so much more for me to read and understand. I believe it is good to underline and write notes in your bible and in a notebook to track your discoveries. I consider my journey as just beginning even after 50 years of reading, praying, and studying. If you are just starting to read the Bible my suggestion to you is to start practicing love right away. Because Jesus Himself places love at the center of what God desires from us. You may not have the strength of the Holy Spirit to accomplish the type of love Jesus wants you to live by, but seek the Holy Spirit’s help for that Christ like love. Also ask the Holy Spirit to help you understand what you are reading. It’s a life long journey that can begin at any age. Seek Him and you will find Him. Done deal!
Can’t wait for Wednesday evening Choir worship. See you soon, love Kent
