Dear PCF family, I had a request today from Tammy Smart. Nina Slaby, who usually brings her baked goods in on Sunday mornings, will not be available to do this for awhile. So we are asking for volunteers to bring in donuts or other store bought goods for our Sunday morning Esic Worship Center’s fellowship hour. If you would like to sign up for a Sunday please contact Tammy at 618-656-0680 or email her at ebaptistchurch@outlook.com. Thank you in advance! Kent
There will be no choir rehearsal this week! Bonni is on a business trip and Jennifer won’t get home until later this evening from her trip.
7 Sundays until Easter and there is so much to learn and appreciate in the bible. We will continue to learn and explore the infinite wisdom of the bible and how it has the power to change lives.
I believe one of the Key verses in the old testament is from is found in Psalm 34:8. “Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!” This verse reminds me of a mom trying to get their child to taste something nutritious and wonderful that she prepared for her child. When I was young I was lucky because I grew up with farmers and gardeners. I grew up eating everything, turnips, broccoli, spinach, corn, peas, sweet potatoes, cucumbers, anything grown in the garden. But there are people who have never had that privilege and therefore they may have become used to eating snack foods, fast foods, and other things that over time can add up to bad health. The same is true for those who do not know or understand God’s word….but even more important don’t know and have never experienced God’s love so their Spiritual health is affected. So the words from Psalm 34, “Taste and see that the Lord is good” becomes a mission statement for all Christians. Come to church with me, come taste and see that God’s Love is powerful and real and life changing. It’s another way to see the Great commission that Jesus gave us: “To spread the Gospel to all people in all nations!” Come, taste and see that the Lord is Good!
Here are some updates:
- Mike Portell will finish his rehab at the Anderson Rehab center this Friday and will be moved to Staunton for an extended stay at a rehab facility there. He is working hard to get his strength back in his legs so he becomes mobile without having to be in a wheelchair.
- Patti Franklin is home from her shoulder surgery but has been dealing with a blood clot in her ankle which may have resolved however now she has to go in tomorrow for an MRI of her head to make sure she doesn’t have a clot in her brain. She has been having some blurry vision but it could be caused from some of the blood thinner they have given her. Please keep Patti in your prayers.
- Mary Knapp is still home but is dealing with several issues that is requiring antibiotics. She is able to walk a little with a walker which is positive. Mary loves the Lord and has a great attitude in spite of all she has been dealing with.
